Alternative_Energies A government sponsored report into the energy business The report will not be liked by the energy providers in the UK, or the National Grid.  Their financial power, since their privatisation, has given their political lobby a distorting impact on power supply in the UK. The report suggests that the UK should build interconnections to Iceland, Norway and Denmark, to enable us to access cheaper electricity at times of peak demand.  Greater energy efficiency should reduce demand. It is also highly likely that electricity storage ability will increase over the next 20 years, perhaps making the National Grid obsolete. I have solar panels which means that I am almost self-sufficient in electrical power - if my area had other renewable, electricity generators such as a wind farm , solar panel site and a means of storing electricity, I am sure that we could get rid of the pylons which disfigure the countryside.
